“Lucky Penny” 

32 antique leather golf grips, shellacked and mounted on a salvaged wooden spool end with a 70s Ford truck hubcap and an oversized Indian head penny in the center. The piece is 36" in diameter and is made on a salvaged wooden spool end. Other elements include a vinyl 33 lp and an upcycled saw blade. Purchased by the City of Newton at the 2016 Foothills Folk Art Festival preview event.


I found these cool orange casters while salvaging in Durham and turned them into Ducks! I used rough-milled oak barn flooring for the background, the body is 1920s beadboard, and the beak is a railroad spike tip.  Continue reading "Ducks"


A medium sized piece of folk art on a section of an antique pine door with safety deposit box keys, heart pine flooring tongues, allen wrenches, and a frame made out of poplar crib legs from the 1960s. A metal Oreo ad and an ornate switch plate sit in the center. Continue reading "Oreo"

Guitar String Patrons

I used to perform a lot as a musician  and have plenty of old guitar strings lying around, but I've traded guitar playing for making folk art.
